Evening News story

http://www.scotsman.com/edinburgh-evening-news/transport/anger-as-store-closed-by-roadworks-to-be-tram-shop-1-2260197

This story is just another example of the madness at the top of the Council .  £100,000 to fit out a shop so the Council can pretend that there aren't empty shops and closing businesses in this street.     Having it turned into a tram propoganda centre shows the cynicism that the Council and some councillors have for the people and the city.

It's deeply depressing.

  1. A document has been left on the doorstep of EdinburghTramFacts (ETF) (extremely) modest office that appears to have been produced by a previously unknown, but doubtless highly respected, think tank.

  1. After scrutiny by our own low powered team of political experts to establish it’s authenticity we have decided to release this document despite the explosive implications it’s publication entails.

Vote for Dummies! You know it makes sense

on Fri, 04/20/2012 - 12:09

The present case being prosecuted in Aberdeen should be reversed and shop dummies ought to be allowed to stand in elections.

They could hardly do a worse job than the people there now and there are very great advantages as councillor expenses could be dramatically reduced:

  • They could be neatly tidied away in a side room every night so wouldn't need travel expenses
  • On fact finding trips could be posted there as freight saving air fares as well.....
  • No food, drink and entertainment expenses either.....
  • They'd always be neatly turned out

It may be we already have some shop dummies in the chamber of

Anti tram posters -- signs of the 'Edinburgh Spring'?

on Sun, 04/15/2012 - 15:40

One of the things the council continue fall back on is the 'public approval' for the 'Tram Project' supposedly signalled by early questionaires.

But of course given the right questions one can always get the answers one wants, and the basic fact is that no proper Public Enquiry was held on the project and much of the consultation was little more than a clever marketing excercise.

However it is important that the council see that opposition to this project is far from isolated, these posters, linked from the news articles page on this website as well, show the humour but also the bitterness

Edinburgh Council are to pursue the Portobello Park Action Group (PPAG) for their costs in fighting a case over the conflict between the PPAG desire to protect parkland and the Council's desire to build a new school on some of that land.

In the story and press release:

Phil Wheeler, Convener of Finance and Resources added: “Enough is enough.  The Council has incurred significant legal expenses to date, in excess of £75,000, and the Appeal will incur considerable additional costs.

Traffic Creates pollution dangers ??!!

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE!!! Council realise traffic created pollution is a health hazard!!

You just couldn't make it up!!

The City of Edinburgh Council recognise Traffic created pollution is a major health hazard for people who live in the city.

Yet they have spent  years fighting against admitting this and right now are still fighting against admitting it.
